Maria Lepowsky is Associate Professor, Department of Anthropology, University of Wisconsin. She is author of Fruit of the Motherland: Gender in an Egalitarian Society (Columbia University Press), and Dreaming of Islands (Knopf, forthcoming) based on her research on the island of Vanatinai.
