  Domestic Integrities

spelt bread and Domestic Integrity Field crocheting at the MAK in Vienna

…this evening started with me baking 24 loaves of spelt bread, out of the oven in time to be ceremoniously placed on a prominent table in the central atrium to cool under a white linen while I presented a talk about the new project series, at the conclusion of which the bread was processed out the back door to the garden, where there was local honey, fresh herbal tea infusion, the pile of bread, and the European Domestic Integrity Field rug (started in Budapest and continued in London)  laid out on the lawn – with a pile of old fabrics scavenged from MAK storage from unrealized art projects and other old textiles brought by enthusiastic locals – awaiting a group of us to crochet into the evening (to the rhythms provided by of a circle of cool drummers invited to accompany our crochet beat), with a break for the premiere presentation of the Edible Estates #12: Budpapest video – and finishing with perfectly timed sprinkles that dispersed the crowd in minutes.
