…sprouted up as wild volunteers in a bed of succulents I just established at my curb this winter, and as usual the tomatoes growing on my sanctioned plants (twelve) that have been lavished with attention, thick layers of compost to enrich the soil, and structures to grow up, have been completely outperformed by the scrappy one that just arrived unannounced and uninvited, spilling on to the street, scrambling across everything else around it, and producing the most and best tomatoes so far….which I love but make me wonder about my gardening strategi
